Kampung Style

We lost our beloved grandmother late last year and I get to go back to the longhouse (Sarawak) for the burial ceremony. It was a big lost to the family but we remain positive about it. Anyway, the good part was to meet all the immediate family which i have not seen for a long long time. Of course we sat down & enjoyed a big family dinner together :-) . My dad especially loves to cook & he is the chef in the house. I can never get enough of his foods. BBQ is also a must when we are there.
I love the smell of banana leaf rice, it is just aromatic & delicious. The fruit is called 'buah alim' in the longhouse, I am not too sure what it is called in general. According to my Sabahan friend, it is called 'mangga wani' in her hometown. Well, this fruit is consider rare & I am lucky that I could have it all to myself :-)
